IS YOUR BUSINESS
CBAM READY?
The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism legislation
came into play in January 2026, meaning businesses importing specific
materials to the EU, as well as non-EU manufacturers that supply those
materials, are now required to provide product-specific carbon data to
support compliance.
Do you import any of the following products into the EU?
Cement, iron and steel, aluminium, fertilisers, electricity, or hydrogen.
If so, you need a CBAM account number or a CBAM application reference
number under the new legislation.
Show the fastener and fixing community your CBAM
status on your Fasten.it profile.
To help Fasten.it members stand out and provide reassurance to fellow
community members, you can now display your CBAM status which will
appear on your profile page, the search results, and the suppliers directory
listing. Suppliers can also be filtered by CBAM, allowing customers to
quickly identify you as a compliant and trusted trading partner.
You can choose from:
CBAM Authorised Declarant (Y128)
CBAM Application Submitted (Y238)
De Minimis Exempt – Under 50 Tonnes (Y137)
Not Required (domestic trade only)
Here is how your status will be displayed on Fasten.it.

Managing Director, Fasten.it
Fasten.it’s 2026 Strategy:
Make More Friends!
At the start of 2026, we set ourselves a simple
goal at Fasten.it: to make more friends.
We wanted to get out from behind our screens,
meet more people from across the fastener
industry and build stronger relationships. So, we
planned more customer visits and trade fairs,
and joined the BIAFD (British & Irish Association
of Fastener Distributors).
So far, we’ve visited members at their
businesses, attended our first BIAFD conference
in April and exhibited at the Fastener Fair in Milan
in June. These have been great opportunities
to meet our members face-to-face, introduce
Fasten.it to new companies and, importantly,
hear what’s happening in the industry.
And sometimes those conversations directly
influence what we do.
At the April BIAFD meeting, CBAM was a huge
topic of conversation. We heard how much the
changes were going to affect distributors and
how important it would be to understand the
CBAM status of the companies they work with.
So... we went back to the office and
got our developers involved!

This is what they did!
